Kinetico Water Softeners rank high based on capacity, quality of construction, salt usage and warranty.
In its most recent evaluation of water softeners, Consumers Digest rated the Kinetico 2030s, 2060s and 2100s as Best Buys. The publication analyzed systems based on their capacity, construction quality, salt usage and warranty and awarded the Kinetico 2030s and like models the Best Buy designation.

According to Consumers Digest, the Kinetico 2030s, 2060s and 2100s have exceptional value in today’s marketplace. Only select Kinetico water softener models were evaluated; however, since 1990, several Kinetico products have been featured in the publication and have received the Best Buy designation. In fact, this is the second time the Kinetico 2030s, 2060s and 2100s have been named Consumers Digest Best Buys.

These, and other Kinetico systems, are sold world-wide through authorized, independent dealers. To find out which Kinetico system is right for you, visit www.kinetico.com or contact your local Kinetico water professional. They will test your water, see what if any water treatment is necessary, educate you on the options available to improve the quality of your water and help you make an informed choice that’s right for you and your family.

The article “Trickle-down Effect, How Water Filters & Softeners Are Evolving” and the results of the Best Buy rating for water softeners can be found in the July/August 2012 issue of Consumers Digest. To read the article online, go to www.consumersdigest.com.

  2. Glass half empty: Is your tap water safe?

    by admin_awc

    By Rachael Moeller Gorman
    Good Housekeeping

It’s mid-afternoon, and I’m at my desk writing, eating leftover pasta, and sipping a glass of water. I hear the mailbox creak open outside and hop up to retrieve its contents. Bills. More bills. And my yearly water report. I pop open the circle of plastic tape and read the results: no violations. My water is in compliance with every drinking-water standard regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Not that it’s perfect: Barium, chromium, copper, lead, nitrate, and other chemicals, as well as E. coli (E. coli!?), have been detected over the past year.

In fact, those contaminants are proverbial drops in the bucket. Antibiotics, hormones, a cancer drug, a chemical found in gasoline, antiseizure medication…research shows that hundreds of unregulated contaminants may be flowing from my tap — largely invisible, tasteless, and undetectable. They won’t be on my water report (or yours) because they are not on the government’s list of contaminants to monitor. And although they’re at low levels, no one knows how dangerous they might be when they’re all mixed together in the water supply and consumed over a lifetime. The government has frequently been criticized for being too lax about chemicals, but last August, the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office issued a report urging the EPA to coordinate research on what contaminants like these could be doing to us.  Read More

  3. U.S. Tap Water – What is your water quality?

    by admin_awc

Since early 2000′s the water utilities have found 315 pollutants in the tap water we all drink, according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG).

More than half of the chemicals are not covered under a health or safety regulation and can legally be present in any amount.  Water utilities these days spend 19 times more on water treatment chemicals every year than the government invests in protecting lakes and rivers from pollution.

EWG believes the government has a responsibility to do a national assessment of drinking water quality.  It believe they should establish new safety standards and set priorities for pollution prevention and tell the customers.

Because it has not, EWG launched a 3-year project to create the largest drinking water quality database in existence. This user-friendly, interactive resource covers 48,000 communities in 45 states and the District of Columbia.

  5. Want better water for cleaning dishes?

    by admin_awc

Everyone has a different reason for wanting a water conditioning system. Alex Edwards, DJ at WAXX 104.5 in Altoona, Wisconsin talks about what urged him to try out a Kinetico water system through Aquarius Water Conditioning.

Alex found that his water wasn’t holding suds as he washed dishes. It got him thinking – and a got him to try a water filtration system. Well, Kinetico made the difference. The suds are holding – in fact he’s using less detergent now – the dishes feel cleaner – and that’s not all.

  6. Helping Minnesota and Wisconsin Residents Switch from Bottled to Filtered Tap Water

    by admin_awc

Think bottle water is cleaner or healthier than tap water? Think again. A new 2011 bottled water study from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) encourages consumers to drink filtered tap water until there are stronger labeling standards for water bottlers. Aquarius Water Conditioning is working to help residents assess the quality of their tap water and determine if water treatment is needed.

More than half of 173 bottled water brands that EWG surveyed failed a transparency test: 18 percent of the products didn’t list the source, and 32 percent didn’t disclose any details on water treatment or purity.

Did you know that bottled water companies aren’t required by the Food and Drug Administration to disclose where their water comes from or how pure it is? The National Resources Defense Council says 25 percent of all bottled water—or more—actually is just tap water.

Since tap water quality can vary and may contain traces of contaminants and bacteria, it’s important for consumers to take steps to ensure the quality of the water their family drinks. With the proper filtration system at home, you can be confident that your glass of tap water is free of virtually all contaminants, including chromium-6 and other chemicals that have been in the news.

When switching from bottled water to tap water, homeowners should first assess the quality of their water by getting a thorough water quality evaluation to see if a filtration system is needed. Many water treatment professionals, like Kinetico dealer Aquarius Water Conditioning offer free in-home testing to residents in areas near Little Canada, Andover and Brainerd Minnesota and Eau Claire, Hayward and Siren Wisconsin.

Water filtration systems, such as those using reverse-osmosis technology, provide a proven barrier against harmful chemicals. The Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to significantly reduce more contaminants than most other R.O. systems and can be customized to meet each resident’s individual water filtration needs.

If you are interested in learning more about the EWG study or water filtration solutions, please contact Aquarius Water Conditioning.

  7. Signs of Hard Water

    by admin_awc

Are you wondering if you are experiencing the symptoms of hard water? Especially in the winter months in the Midwest people often blame the weather when hard water is really to blame. We wanted to create a short list of symptoms:

    • Hard water dries out skin and makes hair brittle.
    • It causes soap scum in tubs and showers and spots on faucets and fixtures.
    • It also causes scaling in appliances, which results in less efficiency and costly repairs.

If you are experiencing any of these, consider contacting Aquarius Water Conditioning for a free water analysis.

  8. Regeneration Means Never Having to Wait for Water

    by admin_awc

The Kinetico Difference? With other water softener and conditioning systems there can be some down time as the system filters and processes your water. Kinetico regenerates with a two-tank system, which means you never wait for your water.

  9. Shape Magazine on Healthy Water

    by admin_awc

Shape Magazine’s April issue mentions the Environmental Working Group study we mentioned last week. They point “the chemical [found in tap water] has been shown to raise the risk for gastrointestinal cancer.”

And Shape Magazine makes the same suggestion we made. Safeguarding yourself may be as easy as using a water filter.

The specifically mention a reverse-osmosis filter – like the Kinetico filter system.

  10. Surveys Show, Americans Care about Water

    by admin_awc

A shocking 49 percent of Americans surveyed indicated that they were concerned or very concerned about their household water according to a report released by the Water Quality Association.

    The report found that…

    • A quarter of consumers are “extremely concerned” about the quality of their water supply, and only 45% say they are confident their water source poses no health risk.
    • A majority of consumers are now willing to pay more for the elimination of contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals. In previous surveys, less than 50% expressed this opinion.
    • Nearly a quarter of consumers say they have primary responsibility in their home for quality water, up from 20 percent in 2008.

The survey also found that as respondents were made aware of the issues of water issues, many purchased water filtration devices. In fact, the Water Quality Association reminds us that…

In 2010, the President’s Panel on Cancer recommended that people use home filtering devices to decrease exposure to cancer-causing agents.

News and recommendations such as that have prompted many home and business owners to call local water filtration specialists, such as Aquarius Water Conditioning with offices in Little Canada MN, Andover MN, Brainerd MN, Eau Claire WI, Hayward WI and Siren WI. Aquarius will provide a free water analysis if you are concerned about the water quality in your home or office.
